corridor projects, runways and taxiways, boat launches, box culverts, highways & bridges, levees, flood walls, and pumping stations.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Machine Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will operate heavy machinery used in construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient operations while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, graders, and skid steers, to perform various tasks on construction sites.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans to execute work accurately.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment for oneself and others.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials and equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and daily work activities.
- Participate in safety training and meetings to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid certification or license to operate heavy machinery (e.g., CDL, NCCCO) is required.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment (minimum years preferred).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices in heavy construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Work Environment:
- Work will be performed outdoors on construction sites.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and heavy machinery.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
