Title: Technical Writer
Onsite Requirement: Hybrid 2 Days a week
Location: Farmington Hills, MI
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer with a strong background in the banking or financial services industry. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with business analysts, product managers, developers, and compliance teams to create and maintain high-quality documentation, including business and technical process documentation, system manuals, SOPs, user guides, and compliance-related materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and maintain clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation, including:
- System architecture and integration documents
- User manuals and training guides
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Regulatory and compliance documentation
- Translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand content tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), IT, compliance, and operations teams to gather information and ensure accuracy of content.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and branding guidelines.
- Manage version control and documentation updates in response to system changes or regulatory updates.
- Support audit and compliance efforts by producing and organizing documentation for reviews.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3–5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of banking operations, compliance standards, or financial systems.
- Proven ability to document technical systems, processes, and software applications.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a structured and regulated environment.
- Proficient in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Confluence, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, or other content management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FFIEC, SOX, or other financial compliance standards.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies or working in a software development lifecycle (SDLC) environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
Work Environment
- Hybrid Schedule: 2 days onsite per week in Farmington Hills, MI; remaining day’s remote.
- Collaborative team environment with professionals from IT, compliance, and operations.
