Job Summary: The Instructional Design Manager will oversee end-to-end design of K-12 instructional materials for Braintree Educational Services. This individual will ensure that learning materials meet standards for quality, accessibility, and consistency across all grades in K-12. The Instructional Design Manager will facilitate vertical and horizontal consistency in design and collaboration between Subject Matter Experts, stakeholders, and graphic designers to create innovative learning experiences.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Project & Strategic Oversight
- Workflow Management: Maintain and monitor project lists and completion timelines to ensure on-time delivery.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Graphic Designers and Team Members, fostering a high-performance creative environment.
Quality Control & Standards
- Design Excellence: Direct quality control processes for instructional design, ensuring all content meets high standards for instructional design consistence and digital accessibility.
- Alignment & Compliance: Ensure all course materials align with Braintree ID principles, as well as Quality Matters (QM) and NSQ standards.
- Continuity Management: Maintain horizontal and vertical continuity across the curriculum, ensuring a natural and consistent learning flow from K through 12.
Learning Architecture & Innovation
- Model Integration: Balance and implement diverse ID models within the Braintree ecosystem, specifically First Principles of Instruction and Braintree Instructional Principles
- Template Development: Create and maintain standardized templates to ensure horizontal and vertical consistency across Braintree.
- SME Collaboration: Facilitate a collaborative environment that allows for SME innovation while maintaining necessary structural continuity.
Core Competencies
- Hands-on Development: Lead by example by engaging in the hands-on design of various courses each semester.
- Proficiency in managing cross-functional teams (Designers, team members, and Stakeholders).
- Deep understanding of Instructional Design models and accessibility standards.
- Strong project management skills with a focus on detail and deadlines.
This position exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree highly preferred in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field.
- Expertise in Quality Matters (QM) and NSQ standards and their application in digital learning environments.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2) and UDL (Universal Design for Learning) principles
- Experience in building or adapting content for an LMS
- Collaboration and project management experience
